Stay Away From Nightshades and Heal Your Joints

In chronic pain syndromes and arthritis, one of the more common toxicities we find is Solanine Toxicity. Most people know this group of foods by the name nightshades.

While these weren’t always considered edible foods, they are a common staple in most people’s diets.

From Italian food and it’s red sauce, to french fries and ketchup, and peppers on your salad, many people consume a lot of the nightshade family of foods everyday.

But would you know if these foods bothered you?

Or caused you intense pain?

Or possibly contributed to weak, brittle bones?

How would you know?

The following is a list of the nightshade foods, then we will look at what one of my patients had to say about her journey of getting off nightshades, and how it improved her health immensely.

Nightshades:

  • Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Paprika
  • Peppers
  • Eggplant
  • Tobacco

I just got this testimonial in last week from one of my patients who is extremely grateful that I found this problem in her.

As you will see, it took her a long time to see the results of her avoiding these foods. But, it eventually paid off and now she is doing better than she has in years.

“For several years I had a hard, swollen, red joint in my little finger. My other finger joints had some swelling but it was my little finger that ached.

I had a baseline bone scan done in my late 40’s. My doctor called with the results, stating I had serious osteoporosis. I was put on Fosamax.

I have done AK Chiropractic for thirty years and had asked about my little finger but nothing came up. When I first saw Dr. Larsen I asked him about the hard swelling and pain. He immediately tested me for nightshades/solanine sensitivity and I tested positive.

I completely stopped eating nightshade and I took Thera Supreme. It took about a year to no longer have the hard swelling, redness and pain. I have now been off nightshades for 3 1/2 years. It has been amazing to see my fingers recover especially my little finger. I have been amazed at the lack of pain. I had become used to the constant ache and now it is totally gone. I didn’t realize how painful it had been.

I have been off Fosamax for several years now and continue to have bone scans free of osteoporosis. I believe my nightshade free diet has resulted in my healthy bones.”

Claudia

You will notice that she had multiple things going on. Pain in her finger, pain in her other joints, and severe osteoporosis.
I often find this nightshade problem in people who have brittle bones leading us to believe that there must be a correlation.

If you have osteoporosis, make sure you are thoroughly checked by a doctor trained in Applied Kinesiology. But like Claudia mentioned, she had been seeing Applied Kinesiologists for 30 years and nobody ever found that for her so make sure you choose wisely.

Contact Us if you want to get checked. We’ll keep the light on for you.

If you don’t want to see an Applied Kinesiologist, and want to try to figure this out yourself, simply stop eating ALL forms of nightshades. And I do mean ALL.

NO cheating otherwise you will never truly know if your experiment is a true experiment.

Even one small dose can set you back weeks or even months.

It may be 4 months of a completely nightshade-free diet before you notice ANY difference in symptoms.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to go this guessing route and possibly need to stop eating potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and other foods I love, when I could just get it tested using the advanced techniques in Applied Kinesiology.

I would hate to be barking up the wrong tree 1 year later.

But, if that is all you have access to, it would be well worth it, because like Claudia, I have seen several patients lives completely changed from just this one change.
